Quite possibly the world’s most extraordinary light, this banana fibre paper lightshade is the only one of its kind in Australia. Mottled accents dance across the surface in an organic design that’s more than-meets-the-eye.

Entirely hand made in Bali, artisans cut banana tree trunks that are destined for the compost into small pieces before blending to form a slurry. Carefully spread over a wire frame, it’s sun dried for weeks and masterfully wound around the shade with inimitable style.

Ingenious and versatile, the result is a beautifully crafted lightshade that’s eye catching as a floor lamp, table light or a pendant.

The final flourish to complete your dream space, this natural pendant light shade makes a statement with soul.

All our light shades are unique, bearing the character of their beautifully handmade origin and natural materials. You might find slight variations in colour, size and texture in each one.

Materials & Care

Banana Fibre Paper: Made from natural fibres, sustainably grown without chemicals.

Regular care should be taken of your light shade to ensure it looks its best for years to come.

To keep it looking its best remember to:

  • Keep it clean by wiping it over with a soft, barely damp cloth, a soft brush - like a large paint brush, or vacuum it with the soft furnishing attachment. Always support its weight when you are cleaning it.
  • Keep it away from moisture, and only hang it inside – grey is not its most flattering colour.
  • Ensure it is hung in a well ventilated place as it doesn't like humid environments.
  • Small grass like strands may protrude from the rattan and seagrass. Do not pull on them as this may damage them. Carefully trim away any loose fibres with a pair of fine scissors.
